Karge cacti – the pavilion F

The typical American plant family of cacti is represented by arborescent species in this pavilion. The really monumental examples are accompanied by species like agave, tillandsias, dyckias etc. The arrangement, resembling natural conditions, indicates, that sandy desert with dunes is not the optimum ecological location but rather on the slopes in stony and rocky deserts. Some of them cannot even be found in typical deserts but in rather less dry habitats like semideciduous tropical forests, the "campos cerrados" in Brazil or "cardonal espinar" in Venezuela.
